Emergency towing in New York City. One call. Any hour.
When your engine quits on the Cross Bronx at rush hour or a tire blows on the FDR at 2 a.m., you want one number that takes the call any hour. The Quick Tow NYC line is answered around the clock, and we line up a local tow operator across all five boroughs, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island.
What's included in emergency towing?
- Line answered around the clock, every day, including event nights at Madison Square Garden and the coldest weeks of winter
- Operators running flatbed and wheel-lift trucks across the five boroughs
- Operators who can reach the BQE, the Cross Bronx, the FDR, the LIE, the Gowanus, the Major Deegan, the Van Wyck or the Staten Island Expressway when that corridor is the pickup
- Post-collision paperwork the assigned operator can actually complete; a shop or storage drop is quoted separately
- Winter recovery during an OEM-declared weather emergency, when alternate-side parking is suspended and restricted streets are cleared
- Standard, mid-size, and heavy-duty work when the assigned operator has the right rig
- One local line for the whole city, with a local operator on the job
- Overnight calls when an operator is available, including the expressway corridors named on the call
When do you need emergency towing?
- Vehicle won't start and you're stranded
- Flat tire you can't safely change on the shoulder
- Engine overheats in stopped traffic on the Cross Bronx or the BQE
- Accident or collision requiring vehicle removal
- Ran out of fuel in an unsafe location
- Locked out overnight and need transport home
- Your car was recovered by police after a theft and you need it picked up
- Driving under the influence - safe ride for you and the car
What do drivers ask about emergency towing?
How much does an emergency tow cost in New York City?
Every emergency tow is quoted before an operator rolls, based on distance and vehicle size, so you hear the total before you say yes. Heavy-duty and long-distance jobs get a separate written quote.
How fast can you get to me?
It depends on where you are and which operator is free, so nobody can honestly quote an arrival time before they know both. Ask the operator for a window when they take the job.
What happens if I break down at the Kew Gardens Interchange or another tricky spot?
The Kew Gardens Interchange in Queens is where the Van Wyck, the Grand Central Parkway, the Jackie Robinson Parkway and Union Turnpike all tangle together, and it catches out-of-town drivers off guard every day. One New York wrinkle surprises people: tow trucks and other commercial vehicles are banned from the city's parkways, so a flatbed cannot legally roll up the Grand Central or the Jackie Robinson to reach you, which changes how the recovery is routed. If you break down on a parkway, stay in the vehicle with your seatbelt on and hazards flashing, note the nearest exit, and call us so the operator can plan a legal approach.
Will you come to the BQE, the Cross Bronx, the FDR, the Gowanus or the LIE?
The assigned operator confirms whether they can reach your corridor. That includes the BQE and the Gowanus in Brooklyn, the Cross Bronx and the Major Deegan in the Bronx, the LIE and the Van Wyck in Queens, and the Staten Island Expressway. A parkway is different: trucks and tow trucks are banned on the Belt, the FDR, the Grand Central and the other city parkways, so a flatbed on one of those is itself a violation and the operator has to route the recovery from an approved access point. If police are already on scene, the officer decides who tows and where it goes, and a police-directed tow goes to an NYPD pound. New York City runs one pound system citywide, so there is no separate town lot to chase.
Do you accept insurance or motor club dispatches?
If you have roadside coverage, call your insurer or motor club first and ask whether they'll dispatch or reimburse. Quick Tow NYC doesn't have a confirmed affiliation with AAA, Allstate, Geico, USAA, State Farm, or any other club. If you need help direct, call us and the operator quotes the job before dispatch.
