How long will my jump-started car run?

If the battery is the problem, drive for at least 30 minutes after the jump to give the alternator time to put a real charge back in. Avoid short trips for a couple of days. If the car dies again within 24-48 hours, the battery is too far gone to hold a charge and needs replacement. If it dies the same day, the alternator is the issue and a jump won't help.

Can you jump start a Tesla or other EV?

Yes, and EVs need this surprisingly often, especially after sitting in an airport or hotel lot for a week while the owner travels. Every EV has a 12V battery separate from the main traction pack, and the 12V dies for the same reasons it dies in a gas car. Ask whether that operator has an EV-rated jump pack and where the 12V access is on your model. A 12V jump can bring the car back online without a tow.

What if the jump start doesn't work?

Then the issue isn't the battery, it's the alternator, the starter, a parasitic drain, or a deeper electrical fault. Some operators test on scene. Ask whether they'll quote a new battery installed, or a flatbed to a shop. You only pay for the job they quoted.
